From skateboarding to tagging, hip hop to clubbing to underground art, URBANology brings together creative practices that hover just outside the radar of the established art world. Staged at Arts House, the program will feature artforms including contemporary dance, performance, break dancing, hip hop, Le Parkour, skateboarding and flatland BMX. All boast local practitioners of urban artforms at the top of their game, internationally recognised as pioneers in their field. Ambiguous Horse is proud to be helping URBANology give expression to the melting pot of cultures, movements and adaptation of international forms that our city allows.
Having been well and truly sucked in to the excitement of So You Think You Can Dance (who doesn’t love to scream at the television on a Sunday night?) we are more than pleased to be working as part of the team for the first ever Melbourne edition of the Australian Dance Awards. The Awards are being staged in this fine city for 2008, 2009 and the eerily futuristic sounding 2010. We’ve been helping out Ausdance Victoria on securing sponsors for the dance industries Night of Nights, and look forward to an amazing event.
Ambiguous Horse has a new home, this is our front door. It’s the black gate. It’s above a bar called Joe’s Shoe Store. We put the bike in the photo to make it look a bit cooler. Do you think it worked? The address is Level 1, 233 High St Northcote, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, The World, The Universe, Infinity. Well, the official address is REAR 233 High St Northcote but for some reason this made us slightly uncomfortable. Like hanging out with boys when you’re in year 8. So we changed it. We were also given PO Box 666. But we changed that too. It’s now 708. So we don’t have to worry about the devil ringing our door bell. Which incidentally is just by the black gate, so ring it and we’ll come let you in. Even if you’re a boy. Hey and guess what? Our online shop is FINALLY open. Check it out here.
It’s amazing the things you can find when you aren’t looking for them. Even more so when they turn up at just the right time. Like our new studio. It’s everything we ever wanted in a place to work and more. But you just can’t call us there - yet. Nor can you write to us - yet. Of course you can email us on the same old details anytime. We did think about hitting the streets with a spirax and blue texta like Kevin to let you all know, but hope you can wait a week till we are set up in our new digs to get in touch.
